They do not require cleaning because they are only single use
They moisturize the eye on contact to prevent discomfort when wearing them

At ICON we have a range of daily contact lenses available to purchase in store if we don't have them we can order them

Extended Wear Contact Lenses:
There are a range of contact lenses which can be worn for an extended period of time. With the recent developments in technology achieved through research by the CSIRO, ciba vision and the contact lens and cornea research centre at the university of NSW have allowed for the development of a new material which offers patients the convenience of a 30 day contact lens which still allows the eye to breath with the contact on even during sleep.

Previously the problems associated with extended wear contact lenses has been infection however the latest development into contact lenses has made these problems a thing of the past with wearers experiencing the convenience of an extended wear contact lens without the problems associated with wearing the lens for an extended period of time.

These 30 day lenses do not suite all contact lens wearers but for those who are able to wear them they offer the convenience of an extended wear contact lens.

Ridged Gas Permeable:
Gas permeable lenses can be worn by anybody at Icon we fit babies who have had cataracts removed as a therapeutic procedure. Gas permeable lenses unlike soft contact lenses provide a new shape for the front of the eye. This means that patients with corneal distortion have the option of wearing RGP lenses which will resurface the eye.

In such circumstances soft lenses will not work well as they mold to the initial shape of the cornea and do not fix the problem. With a RGP contact it does not bend but will retain its shape providing a new surface for the cornea. RGP contacts are especially useful with patients who suffer from keratoconus.

Thus RGP lenses allow patients who have mild to high astigmatism and people who require multifocals to wear the contact lenses in order to help solve their vision problems.
